Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." He wasn’t only
speaking of eternal life and the blessings that follow this life here on earth. He was
speaking of a full life, found in Him, available right here and now. Through Jesus, we have
the opportunity to experience freedom—freedom to become all that God originally intended for us to be.
That’s what Freedom Ride II is all about.
Freedom Ride II is a week-long cycling trip to create awareness of Pillar Missions in Liberia, West
Africa, and to raise money for the education of children in Liberia. Funds will go to support several
education initiatives in Liberia, a country where more than half of the population over the age of 15 is illiterate.
After almost two decades of political upheaval and civil war, the government of Liberia faces
the daunting challenge of rebuilding the country’s infrastructure, including the task of educating
its youth. Currently, only 66% of Liberia’s children are enrolled in primary school, and even fewer go
on to high school. Half a million children do not go to school at all. But Liberia’s children are
the future of this nation. Providing them with a quality Christ-centered education will give them hope
and set them free to realize their full potential.
On Freedom Ride II, we’ll be cycling along a 420-mile section of the Underground Railroad, a route
that provided freedom for thousands here in the United States a century and a half ago. The Ride will
start on Sunday, August 3rd in Owensboro, Kentucky and end Saturday, August 9th in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Please consider supporting one of the cyclists participating in Freedom Ride II, or simply make a general
gift towards the Ride. Your support will help to provide a future of freedom and hope through education
for the children of Liberia.
