Slavery exists. The struggle continues. More than 27 million people are enslaved today; more than at any other time in history.
In 1807 William Wilberforce, a member of the British Parliament, struck a death blow to slavery when he successfully campaigned to have slave trade outlawed throughout the mighty British empire. Despite this, slavery is even more rampant today.
To celebrate Wilberforce's victory and to bring awareness and freedom for slaves, the Pillar of Fire is sponsoring "Freedom Ride", a bike ride through England to raise funds for the Pillar of Fire missions in India and Liberia. Freedom Ride will start on August 10th in London and end August 24th in Edinburgh, stopping at points significant to Wilberforce's victory.
Please support the Pillar of Fire and Freedom Ride. Your support will be, very literally, the purchase of a slave's freedom. Find more information on our missions in India and Liberia via the link above. You can also find more information on the faithful work William Wilberforce 200 years ago. Please read about it, learn about it. Please consider giving. Slavery exists. The struggle continues.
